In Memory of Scott Vaughn

    Scott Vaughn

HYH Family, We would like to take a moment to celebrate the life of an extraordinary man, that we had the greatest privilege of not just working with, but being friends with. Scott Vaughn was known for his impeccable talent in Equine Dentistry and took the upmost care when it came to our rescues, especially our little Baby Skittles. But more than that, he was a rarity in this world- a true kind hearted, good person. He was the last of a dying breed, the ones you hear stories about, “The Good Ol Boys.” The cowboy who would not just give you the shirt off his back, but his horse for you to ride, his truck if you needed a lift, an ear to listen to your worries and woes, and a shoulder to cry on when you needed it most. To know him was a great privilege, but to be his friend was like no other. He had the greatest love for his family, especially his wonderful wife- they were the definition of a True Love Story. The one we all dream of, the partnership we think only happens in the movies. Kathi Vaughn, we thank you for sharing Scotty with us, and we send all the love and prayers we can to you during this time. Scott will leave a hole in not just our hearts, but in this world, as no one could come close to replacing the great man he was. Forever in our hearts, until we meet again friend.

Scott D. Vaughn, 60, passed away on July 9, 2023 in Lodi, CA. He was born and raised in Mariposa, CA. Scott had a successful career in the auto industry for 40+ years, working as a Technical Ops Supervisor for the past 21 for years for VCI (VWGoA). Scott was a passionate Team Roper and spent many years competing and being a part of the PRCA and many other associations. His love for horses led him to pursue extensive schooling to become a Certified Equine Dentist, often helping rescues.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 25 years, Kathi Vaughn.
He is survived by his two children Stephani Respicio (Thomas) of Stockton, CA, Samantha Ruegsegger (Rod) of Linden, CA , and fur-daughter, Molli, four Grandchildren, Alexcia, Leah, Luke and Madelynn. He is also survived by his Mother, Sharon Vaughn and preceded in death by his Father, Jack W. Vaughn.
Scott was a respected, kind soul and humble man, a genuine cowboy.
A family man, he often corralled them together on Sundays for his famous BBQ, always leading prayer around the dinner table.
A celebration of life will be privately held on Saturday, July 29th hosted by his family. Family request ILO flowers, donations can be made to the non-profit Hold Your Horses Livestock Emergency Evacuation Response Team on their website at:
