About Us

How We're Helping

We are a nonprofit organization focused on helping livestock owners during their time of need. With the help of our tireless members, we provide emergency evacuation for livestock owners in need during disasters. Most recently, our Strike Team was dispatched by El Dorado Animal Services to lead evacuations during the Caldor Fire and aided in evacuations at the SCU Lightning Complex Fires in Northern California. Following disasters, we provide much needed feed and supplies for affected livestock and their owners.

HYH members receive training throughout the year to prepare them for emergency evacuations behind fire lines. The Strike Team is comprised of not just equestrians, but of firefighters, paramedics, police officers, vet techs, animal rescuers, nurses, ranchers, and more, to ensure the maximum amount of beneficial knowledge and experience are in our team.

HYH is working on expanding our team to include "Members At Large," to aide with coordinating and running operations outside of evacuations. This will include Donation Coordination, Shelter Intake and Management, Rescue Follow-up, Community Outreach, and more. Please let us know if you are interested in joining our team!

Skittles,

Monthly Giving Program

Every month we receive numerous calls for help from private owners that have also been experiencing financial hardships during the pandemic, and have asked HYH to help with their animals. Whether they are requests for medical support or feed donations, HYH refuses to turn anyone away. Our goal is to keep owners and animals together, and to keep families united by supporting owners during their times of needs. To do so, we have started a monthly giving program so that funds can be raised and used directly for these rescues since these requests are always time-sensitive.   We hope that we can count on you to help support our cause. By choosing a recurring donation to HYH, you will be helping a new rescue every month to stay with their family instead of a shelter, to receive prompt veterinary care, to eat another meal, and to receive the care and support every animal deserves. Every donation helps HYH to save One More Life, and is fully tax deductible!
